Student Advising

Advising, Retention, and Academic Coaching

Our department supports traditional undergraduate students by utilizing university resources and researched best practices to guide the development of personalized academic plans and general success strategies that lead to completion of educational goals. We support our students in a way that encourages positive growth academically, socially, and spiritually.

At Gardner-Webb, every new traditional undergraduate student is paired with an advisor from the Division of Student Success. After students select a major or move into their second year, they are assigned a faculty advisor in their chosen field of study. Their former staff advisor transitions into a Success Coach role, serving as a secondary advisor and point of contact for all things related to success. Need help with time management? Have questions about getting plugged in on campus? Not sure where to find information about your bill? Confused about a campus policy? Your Success Coach is here to help!

Advising and coaching is an essential part of the student experience on our campus, and we aim to provide an opportunity to enhance academic decision-making through major exploration, academic planning, goal setting, and fulfillment of degree requirements for every Gardner-Webb University student.

We are available to meet with students and/or parents to discuss and work towards the resolution of any issue you may be dealing with that is making success difficult.
