The Hunger Games Extras Helping Ease Hunger Pains!

Tona Dahlquist, Extras Casting Coordinator for The Hunger Games, along with featured Extras from the film will be holding events on Friday February 10Th & Saturday February 11th in hopes of doing just that…easing hunger pains.
Canned or Non – Perishable Food Items will be collected. The donated food will help fight hunger in Cleveland County. Donations will go to: The Senior Center Food Pantry, Bliss Center in Lawndale Food Pantry and Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry as part of the “A Community Read of The Hunger Games, READ –UNITE –SURVIVE” project.
Event Schedule

Friday February 10th –Hunger Game Extras, Tona Dahlquist and Extra Hands members will be holding a food collection drive at Cleveland Mall. Come by, drop off a donation and mingle with some of your area background stars.
A Hunger Games Costume Contest will also be held on Friday at the Mall collection area. Come dressed as someone from your favorite District, a Tribute, or character from the Capitol. Those wishing to participate should arrive no later than 6 pm and must bring a food item with them to be considered. Prizes will be awarded at 6:30 pm.
Collection Times: 4 -7 pm
Contest Time: 6 pm 

Location: Cleveland Mall 2001 E. Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC (Burkes Outlet Entrance)
Donation sites will be set up inside the mall for those wishing to come in and mingle, as well as outside the entrance for those wanting to simply drive by and drop off a donation.

Saturday February 11th – Ever wondered why some people are selected as extras and others are not? What can you do to increase your chances? What is it really like to be an Extra? Or how to take the next step from being an extra to a working actor? If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the movie business, Ms. Dahlquist will be holding several two-hour seminars on Saturday to answer thosequestions and more.
Location: Cleveland County Arts Council 111 S. Washington St., Shelby NC 28150 (To be held downstairs –Side entrance)
Times offered: 9:30 -11:30 am 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Seminar space is limited. Admittance will be on a first come basis. You must be at least 12 years of age or older to attend the seminar.

Cost: No fee will be required, however all attending must bring with them at least 2 food items for the collection drive in order to be admitted.
Tona Dahlquist has been an extras casting coordinator in film and television for over 20 years. A few of her projects include “The Hunger Games,” the Golden Globe Award winning series “Homeland” and the Academy Award winning film “Forrest Gump.”
Ms. Dahlquist is the founder of the community service group Extra Hands, which consists of extras from many projects as well as film crew members, actors and reality stars all hoping to Make A REEL Difference by lending an extra hand to those in need.
