Annual Event to be Held Halloween Night in the Tucker Student Center

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Calling all kids!  The community is invited to attend Octoberfest 2013 at Gardner-Webb University, a free fall festival that offers fun for the whole family, on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gardner-Webb’s Tucker Student Center.

Octoberfest features games, crafts, prizes, and, of course, candy for children of all ages to enjoy.  Gardner-Webb students, faculty and staff also dress in costumes and sponsor family-friendly booths with a variety of activities.  Community members are encouraged to wear creative costumes, leave their inhibitions at the door, and enjoy a celebration of the fall season together with the Gardner-Webb family.

The annual event is sponsored by the GWU Office of Community Engagement and offers a safe and fun way for children and families in the community to enjoy festivities of the fall season.  “Octoberfest is a place for all families in our community,” said Stephanie Capps, community engagement coordinator.  “We want this event to be a safe alternative to traditional trick or treating, and a place where children and families can feel welcome to get to know the University as a whole.  So far on this year’s agenda, we have face painting, cookie decoration, and even fried oreos!  You never know what you are going to get when you come to Octoberfest!”
