Students Participate in Lab Experiences, Tour and Q&A Sessions

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—High school seniors will have an opportunity to experience Gardner-Webb University’s Nursing program on Nursing Preview Day Friday, Nov. 4.

This special day for prospective nursing students begins with check in at 8 a.m. and includes a campus tour, lunch, interactive lab experiences and panel sessions for students and parents.

Students will visit classrooms in the College of Health Sciences and receive hands-on experience with injections, vital signs, simulations and games. “We also give them an opportunity to ask any questions about admissions requirements and deadlines,” shares Marie Davis, Coordinator of Undergraduate Admissions for the Hunt School of Nursing. “This gives prospective students the opportunity to see our facilities, meet our professors and talk with current nursing students about our program.”

While students participate in classroom activities, parents will have an opportunity to ask questions during a panel discussion with Dr. Sharon Starr, dean of the Hunt School of Nursing, and other representatives, including a current nursing student.

The preview day is held before the first application deadline on Nov. 15. Davis encourages high school seniors to apply early for the competitive GWU nursing program, which only accepts a limited number of freshmen each year.
