University Forms New Partnership With CentriKid for Christian Children’s Ministries

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb will welcome more than 2,500 children and adults to the University during the next six weeks as the campus hosts a LifeWay Kids Christian camp series for the first time.

CentriKid, a children’s ministry of the international Christian resources organization LifeWay, offers youth in grades three through six opportunities for Bible study, worship and recreational experiences. Camps are organized and led by teams of young adults, including college and seminary students, who help serve as directors, pastors and worship leaders.

Gardner-Webb will host a five-day camp each week, beginning June 15 and ending July 24. Activities will focus on the weeklong theme of “Faith in Training (FIT)” and offer specific discipleship studies each day, including scripture, prayer, giving and fellowship.

“We will help campers explore many of the spiritual practices that help us grow in our relationship with Christ,” shared Henry Dutton, event coordinator with LifeWay Kids Camps & Events. “We are excited for many kids to grow in their faith, and we are also excited for many to make the decision to follow Jesus for the very first time.”

LifeWay Kids operates multiple CentriKid locations in the western region of North and South Carolina each summer, including a continuing camp presence this year at the Ridgecrest Conference Center east of Asheville, N.C. Prior to its partnership with Gardner-Webb, CentriKid offered a location at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C. In addition to its debut at Gardner-Webb this summer, the organization has already scheduled camp dates on the GWU campus for summer 2016.

“We could not do ministry without excellent partners like Gardner-Webb and our many other locations and venues across the country, and we are so thankful for the many people who work to help us make the message of Christ clear to kids,” Dutton offered. “This summer, CentriKid will minister to close to 30,000 total kids and adults. We are excited to partner together and to allow God to accomplish extraordinary things.”
