Independent Online Publication Lists Gardner-Webb Among Top Colleges

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb University was ranked No. 16 among 30 top universities in the nation for its online accounting offering by Online Accounting Degree Programs (OADP). The rankings are based on program accreditation and the level of recognition schools have received from ranking authorities.

OADP is an independent online publication dedicated to being a resource for students looking to earn a degree in accounting. The site calls upon the rankings of multiple authorities such as Forbes, U.S. News and the Academic Ranking of World Universities.

According to OADP, Gardner-Webb’s online master’s in accounting is designed to help students become indispensable leaders even while expectations of the profession increase annually in a changing global market.

“We are blessed with this latest ranking and most grateful to our students, faculty, administrators and support staff,” shared Dr. Anthony Negbenebor, dean of the GWU Godbold School of Business. “We are now enjoying the fruits from their hard work.  Our Accounting program is one of few programs in the country that has ethics as part of the fabric for every course.”

The ranking is the latest report recognizing the quality of Gardner-Webb’s business school. In October 2014, the Godbold School of Business listed No. 7 among all institutions nationwide for online master’s degree programs.  Earlier that year, U.S. News & World Report ranked GWU No. 1 in the Carolinas for the best online graduate business programs for military veterans.

“High rankings are always great news,” said Gardner-Webb Accounting professor Dr. Earl Godfrey. “When you look at both Online Accounting and Online Business Programs (together) in the ranking, only a few schools were higher than us.  We are fortunate, and it certainly helps our marketing efforts.”
