Dec. 3rd Event Will Collect Items for Church Food Pantry

A group of musicians from Gardner-Webb singing at a churchBOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Hungry community members will benefit from an upcoming musical performance being offered by Gardner-Webb University students.

On Dec. 3, “Concert for a Cause” will be held at 7 p.m. at Shelby Presbyterian Church, 226 E. Graham St., Shelby, N.C. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, toiletries and monetary donations for the church food pantry.

The performance will feature the Gardner-Webb Chorale, conducted by Dr. Morgan C. Soja; the Treble Ensemble, directed by Jondra Harmon; and the Old Time Ensemble, directed by Dr. Bruce Moser.

“Concert for a Cause” began three years ago with Soja and her students, who wanted to use their talents to serve God and the community. “We wanted to be able to give back to the community in ways that would be tangible and real for those who are less fortunate,” she said.
