Black is a Harvard Business School graduate, former Goldman Sachs investment banker, Navy SEAL officer, firefighter, and an entrepreneur who appeared on the ABC television network show “Shark Tank.” He currently operates PrepWell Academy, an online mentoring program for high school students that uses the college admissions process as its model for instruction.

“We live in an age of relentless disruption driven by technology, constant connectivity, and political uncertainty,” Black shares. “Overnight there are new channels, new markets and new business models. Meeting these challenges takes more than intelligence, education, and quarterly town halls. It takes ‘grit.’”

In a program beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Hamrick Hall’s Blanton Auditorium, Black will speak about the pivotal role “grit” has played in his life. A question-and-answer session will follow.
