Independent Publication Ranks GWU Program Among Best for 2015

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb University’s online bachelor’s degree in accounting ranks No. 1 in the Carolinas and among the top 25 programs nationwide in a 2015 report by Online Accounting Degree Programs (OADP). The rankings are based on factors such as average tuition, career services, graduation rates and class size.

GWU offers an online bachelor’s degree in accounting through its Degree Completion Program (DCP), which offers traditional undergraduate courses at convenient times and locations for working adults.

“Both professors and students in the Degree Completion Program have working backgrounds in accounting, which provide a rich environment for sharing experiences and preparing for new ones,” shared Dr. Earl Godfrey, GWU professor of accounting. “A focus on practical application allows students to gain excellent returns on their investments of time, money and effort. As a result, students find that through the educational experience they are prepared to accept new levels of responsibility because they have developed the tools to succeed.”

It is the second time this year that GWU has received national recognition for its online accounting programs. In January, OADP ranked the University No. 16 nationwide among the top schools for online master’s degrees in accounting.

OADP is an independent online publication dedicated to providing resources to students interested in earning a degree in accounting. The site utilizes data from sources such as U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review and College Navigator in determining its rankings.

Gardner-Webb’s online bachelor’s degree in accounting was ranked among schools like Colorado State and Penn State universities, and institutions in the Maryland and Minnesota university systems.

“We attribute the success of our online accounting major to the faculty who oversee and teach in this program,” said Dr. Bobbie Cox, associate provost of the College of Adult and Distance Education. “The Gardner-Webb online accounting graduate will be prepared intellectually, professionally and personally to compete in today’s global business world.”
