Students to Share Experiences During Dimensions

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Gardner-Webb University students, faculty and staff members participate in mission trips around the world throughout each year.  Students will share testimonies of their mission experiences during the University’s weekly Dimensions program on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The program will include photo slideshows from student mission trips, as well as the announcement of 2014-15 mission opportunities.

GWU students Meredith Byl and Charity Byrum will share their mission experiences during the program, which begins at 9:25 a.m. in the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center.  Byl, who recently traveled to Nicaragua with the Palmetto Medical Initiative team, said her foreign journey changed how she interacts with people and increased her desire to serve God and humanity.

“I did not know a single person on the trip until I landed in Nicaragua,” Byl shared.  “As I got to know my team members and the Nicaraguan people we were serving, I could not help but be filled with love for them.  This trip gave me the passion to love and serve all of God’s children any way that I can.”

The GWU Office of Christian Life and Service devotes one Dimensions program each fall semester to students and their mission experiences, said Dr. Tracy Jessup, vice president for Christian life and service and senior minister to the University.  “We give thanks to God for the desire we see in our students to be part of God’s global mission,” Jessup offered.

Gardner-Webb’s Dimensions programs are free and open to the public.  The goal of Dimensions is to enhance the spiritual, intellectual and cultural life at the University, and also to promote a sense of community.  More information is available by calling 704-406-4277.
