The two-day event will kick off Pearsall’s art show in the Tucker Gallery at Gardner-Webb’s main campus.

Pearsall, who served in the Air Force as a combat photographer, is a decorated veteran who started the Veterans Portrait Project (VPP) while recovering from wounds she sustained in active duty. Through the Project, veterans can have their portrait taken free of charge. Pearsall provides each veteran with a high-resolution digital image or an actual print.

“They’re young and old, male and female. They come from all walks of life and have varied religious beliefs, levels of education and racial ethnicity,” Pearsall shares. “What unites them all is their service. It’s a bond that cannot be broken, and I’m proud to be one of them.”

Veterans throughout the region are invited to take advantage of this no-cost opportunity by signing up as soon as possible. Charlotte campus appointment times are available on Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Boiling Springs campus appointment times have been filled on Feb. 28 (at the Tucker Student Center) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To learn more about the Veterans Portrait Project, visit The GWU Charlotte campus is located at 8030 Arrowridge Blvd., Charlotte, N.C.
