Gardner-Webb University Students Join Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society

College of Adult & Distance Education Sponsors New Members of Organization

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb University inducted more than 30 new members into the Gamma Beta Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society for adult students on Nov. 15.

In a ceremony in GWU’s Tucker Student Center, 31 students and four honorary inductees joined the society as representatives of the College of Adult and Distance Education at Gardner-Webb.

Ceremony inductees included: Anthony Charles Baylor Jr., Brandi Nicole Beavers, Susan Claire Bowen, Alexandra Dedmon, Joshua Walker Dellinger, Gladys Aurora Diaz, Skylar Elton, Patricia Margarita Espinoza, Janet P. Forrest, Terry Mac Gooding Jr., Morgan Elizabeth Howlett, Anita Lynn Hutchens, Sandra James Jones, Rebekah Lynn Keebler, Spencer Laughlin, Alisha Lennea Luffman, Rickie Christina Mellon, Yrma Lopez Miller, Doris K. Monroe, Travis Alan Morris, Lisa Yarborough Nolen, Rhett Owensby, Patricia A. Parks, Michael Anthony Payne, Vincent Leonard Roebuck, Hannah Marie Smith, Penny LaPortia Smith, Susan Lyn Spah, Megan Sparks, Hank E. Starnes and Melisa Dianne Walker.

Joining Alpha Sigma Lambda as honorary members were Dr. Sue Camp, professor of business administration at Gardner-Webb; Tammy Hoyle, chair and assistant professor of math sciences at GWU; Dr. David Parker, chair and professor of English at GWU; and Dr. Eddie Stepp, chair and professor of religious studies and philosophy at the University.

The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society was established in 1946 to honor superior scholarship and leadership to adult students. It is the largest and oldest chapter-based honor society for full and part-time adult students, with chapters at more than 250 colleges and universities.
