Annual Event Takes Place July 20th

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb University will welcome 150 new students and their families to campus for its annual Summer Orientation Session on Friday, July 20.  The event gives new students—

including transfers—a chance to connect with classmates, familiarize themselves with the campus, and talk to Gardner-Webb faculty, administrators, academic advisers, campus ministries, and financial planning officers.  Students will also get to review class schedules in preparation for the fall semester.

“The University’s new student orientation program is intended not to be overwhelming but instead offer break- out sessions for both the student and parent that involves a smaller and more intimate atmosphere,” said Haley Pond, office manager for student activities at GWU.

Before orientation starts at 11 a.m., check-in will lead up to it from 9 to 11 in the LYCC (Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center). There will be a lunch break at 12:30 p.m., followed by breakout sessions when students meet with each other in one setting and parents with administrators in another.  Students and parents will join together for the final session of the day at 4:00 p.m.  Upon attending, students are urged to have filled out all their forms, satisfied testing requirements, and completed items on a checklist they were sent recently by admissions.

Undergraduate classes for the fall semester begin Wednesday, August 22.
