Race Part of 2015 GWU Homecoming Weekend Festivities

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb University and the Town of Boiling Springs will receive an extra splash of fall color on Oct. 10 as runners participate in the Color Dash 5K. The race is one of many festivities GWU will host during Homecoming weekend.

“The Color Dash is an untimed race and a great social event for friends and families,” offered Brian Arnold, assistant director of student activities at Gardner-Webb. “Every kilometer during the 5K you will run through a different color zone where you will be dashed with packets of colored cornstarch. When you finish the race you will be covered in five different colors and have your T-shirt as a keepsake.”

Runners may register in advance by visiting, or on race day in the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center (LYCC) parking lot beginning at 7 a.m. To provide an affordable price for individuals and families, the cost to participate is $20 per runner.

The 5K will begin at the LYCC at 9 a.m. and follow a course that includes Stadium Drive, College Avenue and South Main Street before ending back at the convocation center. “After the race there will be music and runners will throw the remaining color packets into the air in celebration,” Arnold shared. “Whether this is your first 5K or your 100th, you will have fun.”
