Students to Offer Handmade Items Nov. 19-21 in Tucker Student Center

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Artwork by Gardner-Webb University students and other local artists will be available for purchase during the GWU Art Club’s annual Christmas sale Nov. 19-21.

The club hosts the sale each year prior to Thanksgiving, with proceeds benefitting students and art events on campus. This year’s sale will offer a variety of items such as ceramics, paintings, jewelry, crochet hats and scarfs, photography, soaps and honey. Thirty percent of profits will go toward student trips to sites like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

“The sale also gives the artists practical experience in marketing and retail, and it aids them in paying for the expenses involved in a studio major,” shared Susan Bell, GWU professor of art. “All involved are part of the GWU community, so the sale also showcases the talent around campus.”

Art will be available in Faith Hall of the Tucker Student Center on Nov. 19 from 3-7 p.m. and on both Nov. 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, contact the GWU Art Department at 704-406-4656.

The Gardner-Webb University Art Club is open to all students interested in visual arts. Members serve the University and the community with art events and participate in museum study trips.
