Kristin Rollins Shares How to Identify Abusive Relationships

By Bryton Mitchell, (’17) GWU Intern for Communications

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.— An expert on recognizing detrimental relationships and nurturing healthy ones will be speaking to students at Gardner-Webb University on Nov. 29 for the Dimensions program. This event will be held at 9:25 a.m. in Stewart Hall of Tucker Student Center on GWU’s main campus and is free and open to the public.

Kristin Rollins has spent the last few years traveling the southeastern United States speaking to teenagers and young adults. She shares on the dangers of abusive relationships, how to identify the unhealthy signs, and offers help to those who are dealing with abuse.

“Building and cultivating healthy relationships is an intergenerational topic, but it is an especially important one for college students,” said Dr. Tracy Jessup, vice president of Christian Life and Service and Senior Minister to the University. “One of the reasons I felt led to ask Kristin to address this issue is due to her experience in working with a ministry whose mission is to provide a continuum of services for victims of domestic violence and their children.”

After graduating from Belmont University (Nashville, Tenn.) in 2000 with a degree in broadcasting, Rollins served in a variety of Christian ministries, leading and establishing campus groups at high schools and universities in Tennessee. Her passion is centered on encouraging women and young people to influence their culture by developing a healthy identity of who they are in Christ.
