Christian Ethics Center Director to Speak at Dimensions

GWU’s Dr. Tom LeGrand to Discuss Christian Responsibilities

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — The Dimensions program at Gardner-Webb University announces its 13th guest speaker for the 2014-2015 academic year. Dr. Tom LeGrand will discuss the roles and responsibilities of being a Christian during a program on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 9:25 a.m. in Stewart Hall of the Tucker Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

LeGrand recently joined the GWU staff as the director of the Center for Christian Ethics and Social Responsibility. He also coordinates service learning for the University and holds the faculty rank of assistant professor of education.

“We are pleased with the addition of Dr. LeGrand to our ministry team in the Office of Christian Life and Service,” shared Dr. Tracy Jessup, vice president of the Office of Christian Life and Service and senior minister to the University. “I am confident he will provide outstanding leadership to the Center and its mission, which is to awaken and fuel a sense of social responsibility through Christian ethical reflection.”

LeGrand has served as pastor and staff member at churches across both North and South Carolina. He is involved in efforts to minister to the homeless and people who are striving to rise from poverty. He is currently working on several publications involving the theology and ethics of ministering to impoverished people.
