Three Men Arrested in Connection to March 6 Gardner-Webb Incident

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Sean Xavier Hubbard, Robert Miles Gilliam, Jr. and Devon Marquise Howard (all from Charlotte, NC) have been arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. Additional charges of felony breaking and entering were filed against Gilliam and Howard.

These charges are in relation to a March 6 robbery on the campus of Gardner-Webb University where two GWU students were robbed in their residence hall at gunpoint.

For the past several weeks, GWU Police worked with Boiling Springs Police, Cleveland County Sherriff’s Office, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police and Louisburg College Campus Police in following leads in the case that led to the issued warrants.

“I want to commend University Police Chief Barry Johnson, Officer Tabbatha Pearson and all other law enforcement personnel for their tireless efforts during this investigation. They never gave up on pursuing those responsible for putting our students in harm’s way. I would also like to thank those who offered tips to our University hotline during this time as well,” said Noel T. Manning, II, Chief Communications Officer, Gardner-Webb University.

University surveillance, community tips and a thorough investigation led to these arrest warrants.
