Mauney Hall was named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. WK Mauney of Kings Mountain and in memory of Mr. and Mrs. DC Mauney. It was dedicated, along with Myers and Nanney Halls, during homecoming weekend in October 1967. Mauney Hall and Lutz-Yelton Hall are very similar if not the exact same in structure. This building is located right behind Lutz-Yelton Hall and is the closest dormitory to the Bell Tower. Mauney Hall consists of four levels/halls, a ground level, a first, second, and third floor.
The ground floor of Mauney Hall provides the residents with a lobby, a laundry room, and a communal bathroom along with nine rooms in which two male residents can stay in each room. The bathrooms in Mauney are the most updated in the campus dormitories and are a spectacular sight.
The first floor of Mauney Hall includes thirteen rooms for two males per room to reside in for each semester. A communal bathroom is provided as well. The Second and Third floors of are identical in that there are fifteen dorm rooms and a communal bathroom per hall.
All of the dorm rooms in Mauney Hall have the same room dimensions which are 15’ X 12’3”. The window dimensions are also consecutive throughout the entire building. These dimensions are 3’ X 4’5”. The bed mattress size for all of these rooms is Extra Long Twin.
