Although it now houses females, Decker Hall began as a boys’ place of housing and construction was finished and the building occupied in 1949. This residence hall is located to the left of the Dover Campus Center (DCC) on the “Quad” side of campus. Decker Hall consists of three levels as well as a ground floor where the lobby and kitchen are located, along with the laundry room which provides the students with free facilities in which to wash their clothes.
On the ground floor, there are seven rooms and in each two females can reside as roommates. There is also one bathroom for the ground floor. The rooms’ dimensions are 13’3” X 13’8”. The beds are on a wooden frame and are made with the opportunity to bunk or loft for more space in the room. The mattress size for these beds is regular twin sized mattresses. The window dimensions for these rooms are 6’3” X 5’.
The First floor of Decker consists of twenty-four rooms, two of which are reserved for Residence Hall Advisors (RA). There is one room which is reserved a single room, which means only one female can live in this room unless she requests a roommate. There are two communal bathrooms on this floor. The room’s dimensions are the same as the ground floor’s, 13’3” X 13’8”. Again the window dimensions are the same as the lower level, 6’3” X 5’. The mattress size for this floor is regular twin size.
The Second floor has twenty-eight rooms with two reserved for RA’s. There is one room that is open for single vacancy. There are two communal bathrooms on this hall. The dimensions remain the same as the lower two levels. The room dimensions are 13’3” X 13’8”, window dimensions are 6’3” X 5’, and the mattress size is regular twin.
The Third floor of Decker Hall is unique to any of the dorm floors on campus. This floor has eleven rooms in which one is reserved for a RA. One communal bathroom is provided on this level. Three of the living quarters are on this particular floor can hold three females per room. The room dimensions for these three rooms are 15’6” X 18’7”. The other seven rooms available on this floor are a bit smaller than the three person rooms. The dimensions of these rooms are 12’10” X 17’7”. The window dimensions for this hall are 6’3” X 5’, and the mattress size for these beds is regular twin.
