Leadership Academy

Partnership Offers Students Applied Learning Options

A unique program is providing opportunities to Gardner-Webb University and Isothermal Community College (ICC) students to develop and enhance their leadership skills. The Leadership Academy provides up to 10 students from each institution with behind-the-scenes tours with executives from a range of industries and enterprise sectors, while also offering exercises and activities to strengthen the leader within each student.

The Academy is a 12-week program that meets bi-weekly on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sessions are held at Gardner-Webb and Isothermal on a rotating basis. The student experience includes information on exploring personality traits and leadership principles, team building; the 360° Leader; 21 irrefutable laws of leadership; personal conversations with local leaders of economic development, service, entrepreneurship, and government; and a Leadership Academy dinner and awards presentation.

Each session offers a specific focus and provides a chance for students to learn more about business and entrepreneurial initiatives in Cleveland, Rutherford, and other nearby counties. The Leadership Academy is offered in the fall and in the spring to maximize student involvement. Upcoming sessions include Hospitality and Tourism, Economic Development, and Industry and Government.

There is no cost for program participants, and transportation is provided. Learn more about the GWU-ICC Leadership Academy, or register to participate
