Former N.C. Governor Visits GWU Campus

College Republicans Invited Pat McCrory for Q&A Session

Former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory visited Gardner-Webb University recently at the invitation of the GWU College Republicans. McCrory met informally with the College Republicans before participating in a campus-wide question-and-answer session for students, faculty and staff.

The former governor talked about his experiences as mayor of Charlotte and as N.C. governor. He also discussed the state of politics today and spoke about the challenges of hurricane relief efforts.

Moderator for the event was GWU Senior Eli Hardin, a political science major and chairman of the College Republicans. “When the floor was opened up for questions at the end, there were many thought-provoking ones asked that touched on a range of topics,” Hardin observed. “The governor did not hesitate to tackle the tough topics and provided great advice on politics, business, and leadership in general.”

This program does not represent an affirmation of any partisanship on the part of the University. In order to protect the academic and intellectual freedom of our students, faculty and staff alike, Gardner-Webb does not privilege or endorse any candidate or party.
