The Writing Connection
Gardner-Webb University partners with each of its students to help prepare them with the skills for success as professionals and as productive members of their communities.
Effective writing is one of those critical skills that can help students excel and connect with greater opportunities in graduate studies, careers and more.
To advance the educational and life experiences of students, Gardner-Webb has created “The Writing Connection,” a multi-year project to implement a writing-intensive curriculum for traditional undergraduates.
Students beginning in the Fall of 2018 will be required to take five writing-intensive courses, including two in their majors, before graduating.
The goal is to improve student writing from first semester to graduation by creating a writing connection between freshman composition, the general education core and major courses.
“The Writing Connection” also improves student learning as part of a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) prescribed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Gardner-Webb’s regional accrediting agency.
