Center for Continuing Professional Education presents Antibiotics 101
BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Center for Continuing Professional Education (CCPE) at Gardner-Webb University holds another informative and health awareness program when it presents Antibiotics 101: A Practical Workshop on the Basics of Antibiotics. The two-day (two class) program will be held on the Boiling Springs, N.C. campus on Thursday and Friday - October 15 and 16, and the Hickory, N.C. satellite campus, located on Lenoir-Rhyne Blvd., Thursday and Friday - October 23 and 24, starting both days at 8:30 a.m.
Gardner-Webb's CCPE presents Antibiotics 101 in partnership with Campbell University's School of Pharmacy, located in Buies Creek, N.C. The purpose of the program is to provide a practical learning experience on the application of microbiology and pharmacology principals that contribute to optimal antimicrobial therapy. Professionals and students can also earn credit hours for participating in event.
The instructor for the workshop is Tom Martin. Martin, a resident of Cleveland County, serves as Pharmacy Clinical Specialist for Critical Care at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Martin received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy. He also completed a post-doctorate residency at Wake Forest University's Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
According to Elizabeth Pack, director of GWU's CCPE this workshop is designed for anyone who has an interest in knowing more about the basic principals of antimicrobial therapy. "Emphasis is placed on the clinical principals that drive therapy decision making," said Pack.
