GWU offers discussion on ethics

 Ethics Day Celebration and Program Involves Godbold School of Business

 

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb University Godbold School of Business, the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship (CEE), and Alpha Chi Society have teamed up to present Ethics Day at GWU featuring the program, "Is It Ethical To...?"  The event takes place on Thursday, November 19 at three different times (8:00 a.m., 10:25 a.m. and 1:15p.m.) in Blanton Auditorium, located in Hamrick Hall.

Is It Ethical to...? will feature a distinguished group of panelists who are eager to take questions from the audience.  Those panelists include -

  • Janice Studermire - president of the International Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), which is based in Kansas with seven regional locations across the United States.
  • Billy Henry, CEO of Bellota Group of Cornelius, N.C. and a former executive with Nabisco.
  • Dr. Michael Goler - CMO for Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby, N.C.
  • Tom Bell - CEO of Bell Logistics of Atlanta, Ga.
  • Lin Robinston - vice president of First National Bank, based in Shelby, N.C. and
  • John Godbold - CEO of Impact Financial of Rock Hill, S.C. (The GWU Godbold School of Business is also named in his honor).

Ethics Day is going to be a part of GWU's annual Academic Integrity Week, which features the induction of new students into the University's Alpha Chi National Honor Society.  June Hobbs, chair of the GWU Department of English Language and Literature, serves as advisor to the University's Alpha Chi program.  "Alpha Chi is collaborating with the Godbold School of Business.  We will be making Alpha Chi students available to speak in University 111 classes (at GWU) about the importance of academic integrity," said Hobbs.  Alpha Chi students cannot be part of the organization unless they have both exceptional grades and good character.  Hobbs added, "We see academic integrity as crucial to good character."
