3rd Annual Springs Alive Festival

Boiling Springs, NC- Gardner-Webb University is hosting the 3rd Annual Springs Alive Festival on Saturday, April 19 from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  The Town of Boiling Springs and Gardner-Webb University both sponsor the event.

“The main goals of the event were for the University and the community to sponsor something together and for the day to be family-focused and free of charge. We hope that we have been successful at reaching those goals.  Each year we plan to provide entertainment and activities that will continue to bring out the community,” said Zack Trogdon, town manager of Boiling Springs, N.C.

•    8:30 a.m. - Tour de Springs Bike Ride- GWU Football Center (30 mi. and 60 mi.) Sponsored by GWU-YMCA, proceeds go to “We Build People” Scholarship, Pre-registration $20, Day of ride $25, to preregister visit www.tourdesprings.com

•    9:00 a.m. - YMCA Healthy Kids Fun Run/Walk, GWU Spangler Stadium, Sponsored by YMCA, to pre-register: www.clevecoymca.org/gwu_student; or call 704-484-9622- cost $10 ($15 after April 12th)

•    10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m.- Free Tennis Clinic, All ages, GWU Tennis Courts, 10 a.m.- Jr. Leagues explained, NCTA & former GWU player Daniel Abrahao. 10:30-11:30 a.m.- On court games, fun tennis relays, and equipment provided- Sponsored by the Cleveland County Tennis Association.

•    10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- WGWG Pickin Tent- Anyone welcome! Bring an acoustic instrument and join the fun!

•    10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Car Show- Sponsored by Blue Oval Performance Ford Club, Entry Fee $15, Trophies Awarded, Open to all! (Trucks and Motorcycles welcome) Bake Sale, Half & Half Tickets and Music!! Proceeds go to Relay for Life Cancer Drive- Registration 9-11 a.m.

•    12:00 a.m. - Parade on Main Street- Begins at Ingles, All groups, clubs and organizations encouraged to participate. Contact Vickie Tschantz, 704-434-8730.

•    1:00 p.m. - Doubleheader Baseball Game vs. Campbell University

•    10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Springs Alive Bash- GWU Quad- Inflatables, trolley rides, train rides, free swimming, Broyhill Adventure Course, climbing wall and carnival games. Arts and crafts available for purchase by local artisans. Food and beverages provided by Rotary Club of Boiling Springs and Campus Ministries of GWU.

•    10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Special Entertainment provided by various groups

“Springs Alive is truly a time for family. Gardner-Webb and the town of Boiling Springs have put a lot of thought into activities and entertainment that can put a smile on the face of anyone of any age,” said Paul Foster, assistant director for the Office of University and Media Relations.  "This year promises to be the biggest yet. Once again this event spread out across the Gardner-Webb campus will offer something for the whole family.”
