“We are so very proud of our students and excited about this world premiere of a new musical! This short one act musical is fun for all,” said Dr. Patricia Sparti, chair of the Fine Arts Department at Gardner-Webb.
Work, In Progress is an original one act musical about dreams and finding hope when you are stuck in an office job that means nothing to you. The production has a full cast including: Gena Whiltshire, Brandon Carter, Lindsay Gladhill, and Shane Bryant. Thirteen members from the Gardner-Webb University Orchestra along with pianist Linn Pedalty will accompany the cast of Work, In Progress.
“It’s a story of everyday people that are living mundane, nine to five workday lives. The conflict lies in their dreams that have been suppressed by the pressure of keeping a ‘stable’ job. This question is whether or not they will remain in their jobs to retain ‘stability’, or risk it all for the pursuit of what they really want for their lives,” said Dalton.
Other upcoming events presented by the Fine Arts Department includes
• April 17 – Ensemble Departmental Concert
• April 20 – GWU Chorale Union-The Music of John Rutter
