Former TV Anchor turned Pastor Shares Testimony with GWU Students

The Dimensions Program at Gardner-Webb University welcomed Chris Justice, the senior pastor of Lee Park Baptist Church in Monroe, N.C., on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Justice spent 12 years with WCNC-Channel 36 in Charlotte, N.C., where he served as co-anchor of the evening newscast from 2004-08.

Tracy Jessup, vice-president for Christian Life and Service and senior minister at GWU, said many citizens would recognize Justice for being on a major TV station in Charlotte, but might be surprised by his story. “What people may not know is the journey of faith that took him from the news desk to the pulpit. We’re grateful for the opportunity to have him share his testimony with our students and community,” said Jessup.

After establishing a dynamic career in television, Justice remembers thinking, “‘This is what you’re supposed to do, right? You’ve got a house, You’ve got a good job, I’m living it out.’ But I just felt that I wasn’t doing what I should have been doing.” That conviction led him to make a life change that totally altered the course of his future.
