By Alice Byrd ‘18, Intern for Communications

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb University will host former White House staffer, Michael Wear, for two presentations on campus. He will be speaking at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 27 for Dimensions. Both events will be held in Tucker Student Center and are free and open to the public.

Wear, the founder of Public Square Strategies LLC, will discuss the intersection of faith and politics. As a consultant, he helps religious organizations and other groups understand how America’s religious and political landscape is evolving. One of the youngest White House staffers in modern American history, he served in the White House faith-based initiative during President Barack Obama’s first term. He led evangelical outreach and helped manage the White House’s engagement on religious and values issues, including adoption and anti-human trafficking efforts.

Additionally, he is the author of “Reclaiming Hope: Lessons Learned in the Obama White House About the Future of Faith in America.” Wear serves on the national board of Bethany Christian Services, the nation’s largest adoption agency. He holds an honorary position at the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Center for the Public Understanding of Religion.

Auxiliary aids will be made available to persons with disabilities upon request 48 hours prior to the event. Please call 704-406-4270 or email disabilityservices@gardner-webb.edu with your request.
