ARC-PA 6th ed Standard B4.03

The ARC-PA requires the department to perform a summative assessment of our students no less than four (4) months before graduation. To progress to graduation, students must pass the Summative Evaluation course.

ARC-PA Standard: B4.03
To fulfill the accreditation requirements, students will return to campus for one week within the final four months of the program for Summative Evaluation. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate that each student meets the department competencies, including:

  1. Clinical and technical skills
  2. Clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  3. Interpersonal skills
  4. Medical knowledge
  5. Professional behaviors

Activities utilized in the Summative Evaluation course to assess mastery of program competencies include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Objective structured clinical examination testing
  • Skills competencies testing
  • Standardized multiple-choice exam
  • Case presentations
  • Mock interviews
  • Written assignments
  • Other observed and/or written assessments of skills, reasoning, knowledge, and professional behaviors

All assessment data is utilized to track and map student achievement of program competencies in preparation for program graduation.
