Community Update: Fall 2021 Campus Return

Happy Summer Bulldogs!

As we approach the July 4th Independence Day celebration here in the Springs, we’re already preparing for the fall.

We’re also getting ready for your return to campus so we have several updates to share:

  • COVID-19 Vaccinations will not be required for students to return to campus, though a vaccination is strongly encouraged.
  • Vaccinated students should bring their proof of vaccination documentation with them.
  • Masks will not be required indoors or outdoors.
Students will be required to take a health screening 48 hours prior to their return to campus. Look for more information on this in your GWU e-mail.
  • Campus activities will resume at normal capacity (classrooms, dining areas, etc.)
  • Athletics will continue to follow NCAA and CDC guidance.
  • COVID-19 testing will be available to students at the Atrium-Student Health Clinic if you feel ill.
  • Quarantine facilities and isolation services will be provided on campus but only for vaccinated students.

COVID-19

With the broad availability of effective vaccines, Gardner-Webb will operate in the fall with the expectation that students will make the individual choice on how to protect themselves, their families, and our campus community. We will be offering vaccine clinics during the fall semester.

The following conditions apply for non-vaccinated students:

  • Any non-vaccinated student who is exposed to someone with COVID-19 will be required to quarantine off campus at their own expense.
  • Any non-vaccinated student who tests positive for COVID-19 will be required to isolate off campus at their own expense.
  • Student-athletes will be required to follow NCAA guidelines.
  • Faculty will not be required to provide online instruction for non-vaccinated students in quarantine or isolation.
  • There will be no refunds for non-vaccinated students for time missed due to quarantine or isolation.

Move in begins with student-athletes on August 3 and ends for all students on August 17. Look for more information in your Gardner-Webb e-mail.

If you are a student with questions, contact Dean of Students Lesley Villarose [email protected]. If you are faculty or staff and have questions, contact Eric Plemmons [email protected] in Human Resources. Please remember that GWU reserves the right to amend our rules and procedures based upon future changes in guidance from local, state, and federal health authorities.

The new recommendations from the CDC inspire hope that we will be able to bring back the campus community traditions that make Gardner-Webb the wonderful place it is. We plan to welcome Bulldog Nation for Family Weekend September 24-26 and Homecoming is October 23 and 24. We’ll play Robert Morris in Spangler Stadium on Saturday October 23.

You can get football season tickets now online at gwusports.com!

Have a safe summer and we’ll see you soon…in The Springs!
