Trauma is a prevalent condition and a relevant topic for today’s schools, and trauma-responsive instruction is more important than ever before. As the global community is recovering from the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, teachers may want to consider implementing trauma-responsive classroom practices.

Through this webinar, Bricker and Jones will provide seven strategies to build a supportive classroom environment for all students, no matter their background or past experiences. Strategies will be research-based and easily implemented.

Topics include:

  • Building relationships
  • Setting expectations
  • Positive communication
  • Growth mindset
  • Asset-based mindset

Bricker is a high school math teacher and instructional coach in Marshville, N.C. She is researching the effects instructional coaching has on teacher perception and practice when working with trauma-affected students.

Jones is an English language arts teacher in Spartanburg, S.C. She is actively working toward integrating trauma-informed strategies and literacy instruction.
