Social Science Information Gateway SOSIG is an Internet catalog that offers access to thousands of high quality Internet resources selected and described by subject specialists. Subjects include economics, geography, law, politics, psychology, and sociology.

American Memory Collection This is a Library of Congress project to create a national digital library of photographs and documents from American history. There are now over 1 million items online, organized into 43 collections. Collections can be searched individually or all at once. A great site, full of treasures that illustrate the richness of the American heritage.

Ancient World Web A huge collection of links to just about any website dealing with the ancient world. Links are annotated and are organized by a subject index; a geography index; and a Meta index, a master alphabetical list of all sites indexed. FAQs included.

A Chronology of U.S. Historical Documents The Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, and many other documents from American history are available here. Also included are the Inaugural addresses of the presidents.

EuroDocs EuroDocs is a collection of links to primary historical documents concerning Western Europe. Documents are organized by country, as well as under the category of Medieval & Renaissance Europe. Resources include speeches; letters; articles; legal documents; and political documents such as treaties, photographs, and other works.

World History Archives The Gateway is a collection of resources to support the study and teaching of world history and history in general. This collection includes documents, images, and maps, as well as links to libraries, history departments, and history listservs.

Political Science

C-SPAN.org C-SPAN features information on program highlights, as well as a guide to its programs that includes schedule listings. Of particular interest are C-SPAN's programming links, which are links to organizations featured on C-SPAN. In addition, there are links to the Booknotes and BookTV websites, C-SPAN's programs that discuss books and ideas.

Democratic Party The Official Site of the Democratic Party makes available the Democratic Record, including the party's platform, position papers, and accomplishments. There is also the DNC's leadership, function, history, and bylaws. State and local party links are included.

Liberty! Online makes available online, without commentary, the works that express the philosophy upon which the United States of America was founded--individual liberty. Included are the Federalist Papers and the works of Aristotle, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. Also included are historical documents and modern-day works.

Political Science Resources on the Web A wealth of political science information is found here at the University of Michigan Documents Center. Organized by subject, featured links cover topics such as area studies, foreign politics, international relations, and political theory. There are also reference sources, indexes, internet guides, political science associations, and university departments.

Republican Party The RNC website features the Republican Platform and positions on major issues; accomplishments; and information on the origin and traditions of the G.O.P. There is also membership/activist information, an online directory, and press releases.

State Department Background Notes The countries of the world, as well as other geographic entities and international organizations, are profiled here. Notes include history, political parties, officials, foreign relations, defense, embassies, and relations with the U.S.

Townhall.com is an interactive online community that brings conservative Internet users and public policy organizations together. News, editorials, issue spotlights, and the week in review are featured, along with community links. Of particular interest are the links to member groups, which include many conservative organizations such as The Heritage Foundation.

Geography

CIA World Factbook Information on geography, people, government, economy, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues (disputes) is given for every country in the world. The CIA also provides reference maps, notes, and appendices.

InfoNation Provided by the United Nations, InfoNation allows you to select, view, and compare the most recent statistical data for the member states of the United Nations. You can compare information on geography, economy, population, and social indicators.

US Gazetteer Provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the most recent census.

Sociology

American Sociological Association ASA's website has information on the organization, as well as links to career resources, publications, and teaching & academic resources.

Focus on the Family FOTF is a Christian organization dedicated to the preservation of the family. The website includes information on its ministries, as well as articles on family life.

Sociology Weblinks A well-organized site that has links to schools & organizations; sociological theories & works; research in sociology; sociology megasites and journals; and careers in sociology. A highlight is Sociology Jeopardy, a quiz game of sociological terms.

SocioWeb is an independent guide to sociological resources on the Internet. It can be explored by search engine or by an index. Index categories include associations, journals, university departments, commercial sites, and topical research.

WWW Resources for Sociologists This site has links to sociology guides on the web, as well as links to associations, departments, online publications, and teaching resources. There are also subject indexes for criminology, demography, family, and social theory.
