American Nurses Association ANA's website, NursingWorld, has a wealth of information on the nursing profession. In addition to information about the association, there are links to the American Academy of Nursing, American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Nurses Foundation, the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing, and the Ethnic Minority Fellowship program.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The CDC website has a lot of useful information such as news, Traveler's Health (including disease outbreaks worldwide), and Data & Statistics. The Health Information link leads to information on a wide range of health-related topics. There is also information on the CDC itself, as well as its publications, products, and job vacancies.

Emergency Medicine and Primary Care Home Page EMBBS maintains this website, which has information of interest to medical professionals. Topics include radiology, CT, and medical images; job listings; clinical reviews; medical web links; and software.

Martindale's Nursing Center "A Medical Multimedia and Specialized Information Research Center." A HUGE site (256K) that has nursing reference, online journals, medical literature, case studies, national boards & review questions, and a wealth of other information. NOTE: Due to the size of this webpage, it takes some time for it to load.

Merck Manual Merck's award-winning website features the online version of The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy. Also featured is a Health Infopark, news, products, career opportunities, topics for health professionals, and research.

National Center for Environmental Health NCEH's goal is to provide better health for all people. To that end, the center has information on its research and prevention programs here. The NCEH also makes online versions of its factsheets and brochures available.

National Institutes of Health NIH conducts research to combat disease. In addition to an overview of the Institutes' organization and mission, there are Health Information Resources, as well as Scientific Resources that include online library catalogs and literature resources.

National Library of Medicine Part of the National Institute of Health, the NLM is the world's largest biomedical library. Visitors to this website will find general information about the library, its programs, news, access to MEDLINE and other electronic information sources.

Sigma Theta Tau International The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Tau Theta has information on its webpage about its programs, membership, and publications. Of particular interest to nurses is the online library, which includes the Registry of Nursing Research. There are also links to STTI region and chapter websites, and to other nursing sites as well.

The Visible Human Project The project is a digital image library initiated by the NLM, which "... is creating complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the male and female human body." NOTE: A sampler of images is available. To see a full collection of images, one of several special applications must be downloaded and configured.
