Aesthetics On-line This
online journal is the electronic version of the American Society for
Aesthetics' newsletter, and features articles about aesthetics, philosophy
of art, art theory, and art criticism. There are also links to aesthetics-related
resources on the Internet.
Art Images for
College Teaching AICT is a library of art history images licensed
for educational use. These images are organized into four main categories:
Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance & Baroque, and Non-Western. Images
can be downloaded, and each is accompanied by a description and references
to textbooks listed in the concordance.
ArtsEdNet The Getty
Education Institute maintains this website that includes lesson plans,
curriculum ideas, and other online resources for teaching art. Resources
include information on winning support for arts education and Web Gateways
to art resources on the Internet.
Arts North Carolina The "Arts
Resources" link on this webpage leads to international, national, and
local links of arts resources. There is also information on this organization's
advocacy, programs, and services, as well as a link to the North
Carolina Arts Council.
Art History Resources
on the Web This is an online textbook that covers art history
from prehistoric to modern art; it also includes chapters on Christian
and non-Western art. This site has a very extensive collection of
art images, as well as links to art resources all over the Web.
Perseus Digital Library An
evolving digital library of resources for studying the ancient world.
The Art & Architecture link has catalogs of images for architecture,
coins, vases, and sculpture. There are also secondary sources such
as Greek searching tools, texts, an interactive atlas, an encyclopedia,
Greek and Latin grammar, and an historical overview.
Art Museums
The J. Paul Getty Museum The
Getty has selected images of items from each of its available collections;
each item is accompanied by a detailed description. The Getty page
also has descriptions of its current exhibitions, visiting information,
and a link to the Getty Center.
Le Louvre The "Collections" link
on the Louvre's website has information on eight of the museum's collections,
with images of some of the most famous works from each. There is also
information on the museum's exhibits, publications, and the history
of the Louvre palace.
Museum of Modern Art The MOMA's
online exhibitions represent modern art in painting, sculpture, photography,
film, architecture, and design. This website also has research resources,
as well as links to art organizations, museums, galleries, auction
houses, and publications.
National Gallery of Art The National
Gallery has an easy-to-use website that features images of many of
the items in its collection. The collection can be searched by artist,
title, or subject; the collection can also be "toured" by medium--for
example, painting, sculpture, etc.
North Carolina Museum of Art The
NCMA has images of selected items from its collections online, each
of which can be enlarged.
Smithsonian Institution The Smithsonian
maintains links to websites for each one of its museums and research
centers; each site, in turn, has its own online resources. There is
also information on the Smithsonian's publications, libraries, scholarly
services, and volunteer or membership opportunities. Information on
tours for each museum is also available.
WebMuseum The WebMuseum
is an online museum mirrored at sites all over the world. Highlights
include a medieval art exhibit, the Famous Paintings collection, and
an exhibit of the works of Paul Cezanne.
Music Organizations
American Orff-Schulwerk Association Orff-Schulwerk
is a way to teach and learn music developed by Carl Orff. The AOSA
website has information about the association, including membership,
scholarships, and the collection of the Orff-Schulwerk library at
the University of Arizona.
The College Music Society The
CMS provides information on memberships, chapters, professional activities,
publications, and recordings. In addition, there are links to music
departments, conservatories, schools of music, music organizations,
and music resources.
Society for Music Theory The
online resources of the SMT website include the Online Bibliographic
Database, which has simple and complex search options. Music Theory
Online, the SMT's virtual publication, is also available, along with
membership information.
Music Resources
Archives of Traditional
Music Based at Indiana University, this is the largest university-based
ethnographic sound archive in the U.S. Its website provides access
to I.U.'s online catalog and information about services. There are
also links to other related sites and resources.
Classical Net has over 5,500
informational files about classical music. Included is a basic repertoire
list for a music library, a composer index, biographical information
on composers, reviews, articles, bibliographies, and classical music
links. A search engine is available.
Ensemble is a website that
compiles all kinds of links about all kinds of music. The links include
not only music resources, but also links to the webpages of symphonies,
bands, opera companies, and choirs. There is also a music discussion
site and the "Career Connection."
Eyeneer Music Archives The
Eyeneer website has archives for classical, jazz, American, and international
music. Each archive has biographies, discographies, photos, and samples
of sound recordings.
Worldwide
Internet Music Resources This website is likely to have resources
on just about any performer, group, ensemble, composer, or type of
music one can think of. There are also concert listings, research
sites, journals, magazines, and miscellaneous resources here.

Indiana Theory
Review is a non-profit publication that is published twice yearly.
It's website has information on subscriptions, guidelines for contributors,
and a table of contents.
Journal of Music Theory The
JMT website has information on subscriptions, as well as information
on upcoming, current, and past issues. There is also an author index.
Music Theory Spectrum is
the official journal of the Society for Music Theory. The Table of
Contents has abstracts for many of its articles. Also included on this
webpage is submission and ordering information.

and Music This is a website devoted to an interesting topic. There is a
