| A Gardner-Webb identification
card is issued to all GOAL and Graduate students. You will need this
ID for library access and use. Services available for remote students
include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Remote students are encouraged to visit the John R. Dover Memorial
Library on the main campus.
2. Remote students may use the library’s website at www.gardner-webb.edu/library/ to determine if a book or periodical is in the Gardner-Webb collection.
3. A toll-free number for students attending remote centers only is
provided for those who are unable to visit the main campus. This number
is provided in your GOAL and Graduate information. Services provided
through this number include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Request to have a book delivered via UPS to your home or workplace.
B. Request the delivery of photocopies of journal articles via US
Mail, UPS, fax, or Gardner-Webb professor.
C. Request reference assistance during any stage of a research project,
including help with electronic database searching.
D. Request books or materials through interlibrary loan if not held
in the Dover Library collection.
E. Request an appointment with a reference librarian at Dover Library.
4. Students may use a multitude of library resources via the Internet,
from any Internet accessible computer. These resources include the
library Website with our online catalog MAX, as well as a variety of
electronic databases, encyclopedias and hot links to useful Websites.
NC LIVE is a package of databases covering a variety of subjects. We
also offer specialized databases such as: American Chemical Society
Journals, ATLA religion database, Biography Reference Bank, Digital
Dissertation Abstracts - Part A, iPreach Bible Reference Tool, MLA
International Bibliography, Newsbank Newspapers, PsycARTICLES, and PsycCRITIQUES.
These databases include both indexing and some full text articles.
5. In an effort to increase the availability of resources, use and
borrowing agreements have been made with a number of public and academic
area libraries.
Remote students may access our electronic databases from the library's
home page. The computer will prompt you to enter your Gardner-Webb
(MyWebb) user name and password.
