Dr. Megan McCauley, DMA
Adjunct Professor, School of Performing and Visual Arts

Dr. McCauley served as assistant stage director for Bob Jones University's production of Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief at Performance Hall in Greenville, SC, in November 2010. In December she appeared in the role of the Mother in the Spartanburg Repertory Company's fully staged production of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, performed three times at Fernwood Baptist Church and conducted by Dr. Susan Lyle of Converse College. In March 2011, Dr. McCauley created, produced and performed the vocal solos in a unique program titled "Voices of Terezin: All Shall Be Well" at the University of Kentucky. The program showcased children's poetry and art alongside vocal compositions by established composers, all of whom were World War II prisoners at Terezin Concentration Camp in the Czech Republic. Dr. McCauley's program constituted the first half of a performance featuring Brundibar, Hans Krasa's one-act opera for children.

On March 10, Dr. McCauley presented a solo recital of works from Terezin--"Voices of Terezin"--in the John Jacob Niles Gallery in Lexington, KY, as one of the special events associated with the Brundibar performance week. The opera performances were held at the Singletary Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky. As the initial program in a recital series in honor of the 200th birthday of Franz Liszt, on March 29, 2011, Dr. McCauley performed Tre Sonetti del Petrarca with pianist Dr. Deanna Moore in Stratton Hall on the campus of Bob Jones University. On April 9, 2011, Dr. McCauley performed a recital of art songs centered around the texts of Ophelia's songs in Shakespeare's Hamlet. The concert was the featured closing night event of the 29th Annual meeting of the Shakespeare Association of America, held in Seattle. The concert, performed in the auditorium of the Hyatt Hotel of Bellevue, was a reprise of a recital created and performed by Dr. McCauley at The Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, on June 18, 2010, for the Twelfth Annual BritGrad Conference, sponsored by the University of Manchester (England). On April 25, 2011, Dr. McCauley presented a guest lecture entitled "Crossing Over: Intersecting Singers with Speech Language Pathology" for speech pathology majors at Bob Jones University.
