Great Affordability Program

Last year, Gardner-Webb University (GWU) awarded more than $8.6 million in financial aid! Each year more than 82% of our students receive need-based aid and 90% were awarded achievement based scholarships.

Let us show you how GWU is more affordable than ever by following the steps below:

Apply and be admitted to GWU.
Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Once your FAFSA has been received and you have been accepted to
Gardner-Webb, an award letter will be mailed to you shortly.

The amounts listed below are the minimum amounts to be awarded and could increase.

On-campus base amount:

GPA (4.0 scale)	3.00-3.29	3.30-3.59	3.60-3.79	3.80-4.00
Award amount per year	$6,000	$6,250	$6,500	$6,750

Off-campus base amount:

GPA (4.0 scale)	3.00-3.29	3.30-3.59	3.60-3.79	3.80-4.00

Scholarships and Grants:


Baptist Leadership Scholarship	Award Values will be announced in March.	Awarded to selected students who are members of North Carolina Baptist churches cooperating with the NC Baptist State Convention. The funds are awarded and provided by the NCBSC. A separate online application must be completed prior to May 1. (Must reapply each year at https://chegrants.secureshd.com).
Board of Minister’s Scholarship	$250 per year	Awarded by a member of the Board of Ministers. The application must be submitted by May 1 to the Financial Planning Office.
Christian Service Organization	$1000 - $3000	Awarded to those students preparing for full time Christian vocational service. A separate application must be submitted to Steve Varley of the University Development Office (704-406-4253) for approval and a FAFSA must be on file. Award amounts depend upon the student’s demonstrated financial need as determined by their FAFSA.
Church Matching Scholarship	Up to $2500*	Awarded to those students submitting the application on or before May 1. GWU will match amount from a Southern Baptist Church. Must reapply each year. *If GWU aid exceeds $8000 the scholarship will not be matched.
Minister’s Dependent Scholarship	$1000	Awarded to a dependent student of a full time minister of a SBC or CBF Church or an ordained, full time employee of a Baptist State Convention or agency. The application must be submitted by May 1 to the Financial Planning Office. Must reapply each year.

Federal and State grants and loans		Complete the FAFSA. Must reapply each year.
