Application Process

Step 1: Basic requirements to succeed in college

What classes should I take in high school to qualify for admission to Gardner-Webb?

While a fixed pattern of high school credits is not prescribed, the following minimum course distribution is recommended as the basic preparation for academic work at Gardner-Webb University:

English 4 Units
Social Science 2 Units
Algebra 2 Units
Forign Language 2 Units
Natural Science 2 Units
Geometry 1 Unit

What are the GPA and SAT/ACT requirements for admission to Gardner-Webb?

  • GPA - Minimum of a 2.50 grade point average *
  • SAT - Math and Critical Reading Total of 850 (minimum) *
  • ACT - Composite score of 18 (minimum) *

*The preceding information regarding GPA and SAT/ACT are base lines for academic success. The writing sections of the SAT and ACT are collected to strengthen the applicant's overall application in relation to admission and academic placement.

International Students

  • Submit results of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 500 (paper) or 173 (computer based) is required.
  • Complete an International application.
  • Submit documentation of your ability to financially support yourself while in the United States to your Embassy and to Gardner-Webb.
  • Submit all transcripts of foreign college credits to World Education Services (WES) for evaluation prior to mailing to Gardner-Webb. WES applications are available at www.wes.org or call 1-800-937-3895.
  • International Document Processing Fee of $100 (U.S.) will be required by money order, credit card, or wire transfer.
  • An I-20 will be sent after formal acceptance and receipt of the $100 fee.

Transfer Students

  • Official high school transcript.
  • Official college transcript from all colleges attended.
  • SAT or ACT scores.
  • High school grades and entrance exams are not required if you have completed 15 semester hours of college credits with at least a 2.0 GPA.

Step 2: How do I apply to Gardner-Webb University?

  • Submit Academic Documents
  • Official high school transcripts (grades 9 through 12) to Gardner-Webb University.
  • SAT or ACT scores to Gardner-Webb University via the College Board or high school Guidance Office. Senior year scores are preferred (Gardner-Webb's code for the SAT is 5242 and the ACT code is 3102).
  • Transfer students - see requirements above.
  • International students - see requirements above
  • Send in an application fee of $40 (waived if student applies online). International students - $100 (U.S.)

Step 3: Financial Aid
  • Fill out a FAFSA. The FAFSA code for Gardner-Webb University is 002929.
  • Go to Gardner-Webb's financial planning site for scholarship information.
  • You will be automatically considered for the Gardner-Webb Presidential Scholarship and University Fellows Scholarship upon your acceptance to the University.

Step 4: Important dates
  • Admission decisions are made dependent upon the receipt of a completed application and all supporting documentation. Acceptance notifications will be delivered three weeks after these documents are received.
  • Applications to the nursing program are due in January, April, and July with acceptance reviews processed in February, May, and August, respectively. Acceptance notifications will be delivered upon completion of each review.
  • New student orientation begins August 20, 2010.
  • Transfer student orientation begins August 20, 2010.
  • Classes for undergraduates begin on August 25, 2010.

Step 5: Pack for college
