Dr. Bass joined the Gardner-Webb faculty in 1995 as an Associate Professor of Mathematics. In years 1997 - 2007 he served as the chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences. His published mathematics research has concerned integral representations of univalent functions.  He earned the Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1988 under the direction of John Pfaltzgraff and Joseph Cima.

Dr. Mirek Mystkowski received his M.S. in Physics from University of Wroclaw in 1992. Year later he started graduate studies at the University of Missouri. He received Ph. D. in Mathematics in 1997 and M.S. in Computer Science in 1999. His research work focused on developing novel methods for landmine detection. Since 2002 he has been teaching Computer Science and Mathematics at Gardner-Webb University. Besides his academic work he enjoys variety of activities including hiking, bird watching, and reading science fiction novels.

Dr. Olga Poliakova joined the Gardner-Webb faculty in 2000. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1998 under the direction of Boris Schein. Her dissertation focused on free inverse semigroups. She received her MS in Applied Mathematics from Moscow State University, Russia, in 1990. Her thesis research focused on the area of k-valued logics. She is a faculty adviser for the Math Club SIGMA. She likes hiking, traveling, reading, and playing guitar.

Mrs. Hoyle joined the Gardner-Webb faculty in 1990.  She is a 1988 Graduate of Gardner-Webb with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education.  She received a Master of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in 1990.  In addition to core courses, Mrs. Hoyle teaches Number Theory, Geometry, and Methods of Teaching Secondary Mathematics.  She serves as the supervisor for the secondary math student teachers. Mrs. Hoyle lives in Boiling Springs with her husband, John and son, Tanner.  She and her family enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and various church activities.

Mr. Johnson joined the Gardner-Webb faculty on a full time basis in 1995 after a successful coaching career. He coached basketball at Gardner-Webb from 1990 - 1995 while also teaching part time in the Mathematics Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Furman University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.

Teralea Moore joined the Gardner-Webb faculty in 2006.  She earned her M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte in 1985.  She received a B.S. in Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University in 1983. Interests include jogging, traveling, making photo albums, gardening, and sudoku puzzles.

Jason received his MA in Mathematics Education from Appalachian State University in 1999. He is currently working on his EDD in Educational Leadership at Appalachian State University. Before coming to Gardner-Webb, Jason worked as a high school math teacher and technology specialist. Spending time with his wife and two children is Jason’s hobby away from Gardner-Webb.
