Licensure in School Administration

Experienced, licensed North Carolina educators who already have a master’s degree may become licensed in school administration through the School Administration Add-On Licensure program.

 

Admission Requirements

  • Completed application to the Graduate School showing employment history required by NCDPI: three years of teaching or professional educator experience (e.g. school counseling), or a position as an assistant principal
  • Official transcript of master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Current North Carolina educator’s license
  • Three professional references on Graduate School reference forms (references from family members or friends are not acceptable)

  • Program Length: Five semesters with classes each first, third and fifth semester
  • Occupation and SOC Code: Principal, 11-9032
  • Prerequisites: Teaching License and three years experience
  • Tuition and Required Fees: 
    • $355 per hour for 24 hours
    • Taskstream Acount: $91 for three years 
    • Internship Fee: $100 per semester
    • Online Fee: $25

  • Job Placement Rate: Students seeking certification are concurrently employed within the Teacher Education field.
