In keeping with today’s global society, you’ll explore business in the context of an interconnected world.

 

When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to take on marketing roles in businesses and not-for-profit organizations, helping communicate their message and achieve their goals.

The learning you’ll do as part of the Broyhill School of Management begins in the classroom but it doesn’t end there. Classes focus on problem-solving and interactive discussions exploring issues from all sides. You can build on these learning experiences with enriching extracurricular activities including participating in our active student organizations or traveling to national student conferences. You’ll also have the opportunity to travel the world through our study abroad programs, demonstrate your leadership abilities in our student organizations, experience high-adrenaline teamwork at our adventure course, take a week-long trip to New York City, and score an internship with a local company.

 

ENtrepreneurial ACTion by all of US (ENACTUS)
ENACTUS is a global, non-profit organization bringing together more than 1,600 university teams in 20 countries. Through ENACTUS, you’ll develop leadership and teamwork skills while exploring principles of free enterprise. Gardner-Webb’s ENACTUS team helps students share their knowledge of market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, business ethics, and more through educational outreach projects. Delta Mu Delta
Delta Mu Delta is the international honor society for business majors, recognizing high scholastic achievement by majors in the Broyhill School of Management and offering career benefits for graduates. Membership is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors who are in the top 10 percent of their class with a minimum 3.8 GPA. 

 

Goals and Objectives

  1. To be able to apply and critique the financial operations of business firms from a managerial perspective and manage the investment resources of individuals and business firms
  2. To incorporate global and ethical perspectives across the curriculum
  3. To prepare students to be able to apply quantitative techniques, computer techniques, and other elements of critical thinking to managerial problem solving


Required Course Work

The Common Professional Component and the following courses: Management 416, six courses from the following, in consultation with the advisor:

 

  • Economics 301, 303, 304, 311, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 480
  • Finance 301, 320, 420, 425, 430, 460
  • At least four of the six courses must be Economics-designated courses.

 

Internships
An internship will allow you to put your learning into practice, explore professional interest, and make rewarding contacts. Recent marketing students have interned at Wal-Mart and several local advertising firms.

 

F. Keith Griggs Memorial Award
The F. Keith Griggs Memorial Award is available to all full-time undergraduate students of the Broyhill School of Management who are entering their final year of study. Students are to write an essay entitled “A Business I Would Like to Start” to be submitted and read by a committee. The committee awards a $500.00 scholarship for the winner to use during his/her final year of study. 

 

Goals and Objectives

  1. To be able to understand basic concepts of marketing to manage a promote sales or services for a business or not-for-profit organization
  2. To incorporate global and ethical perspectives across the curriculum
  3. To be able to apply quantitative techniques, computer techniques, and other elements of critical thinking to marketing problem solving
