Jennifer BucknerJennifer Buckner, Director

Professor Jennifer Buckner is GWU's Writing Center Director, providing training and guidance for an outstanding staff of consultants. With a research specialization in writing studies and new media, she works to provide the staff with resources and approaches to effective writing instruction and peer tutoring. Professor Buckner is an assistant professor in the Department of English Language and Literature, teaching composition and new media courses when she's not working with writing center staff. Kristin AllisonKristin Allison, Consultant

Kristin is a sophomore majoring in Chemistry. She is from Marion, NC. Kristin loves to go hiking and horseback riding. She is excited about working in the Writing Center this semester and looks forward to helping her peers however she can.

 

 

 

 

Terri CarterTerri Carter, Consultant

Terri is a graduate student working on her M.A. in English. She earned her undergraduate degree in English, Secondary Education at North Greenville University. Now, she’s enjoying time at Gardner-Webb University. She looks forward to helping students in the Writing Center this semester.

 

 

 

Anna HoneaAnna Honea, Consultant

Anna is a sophomore working on a biology major with minors in writing and Spanish.  She was raised in the beautiful state of Virginia and nourished by fantasy, fairytale, and the great outdoors.  She’s currently sprouting a special interest in writing biology and nature essays. Anna is committed to helping other students improve their writing in any subject. 

 

 

 

Hannah MayfieldHannah Mayfield, Consultant

Once upon a time, a young woman in search of the perfect college happened upon Boiling Springs, NC and fell in love with Gardner-Webb University. Now, she is happily graduating in May of 2013 with an English major and Communications minor. To Hannah, “writing is not a destination. It is a journey. A journey that is different every time I embark upon it. Whether it is a short story or an essay, I will wrestle with my words, kill off my characters, and fight with my format. Writing isn't dangerous. promise.”

 

 

Mallory MonroeMallory Monroe, Graduate Assistant

Mallory is a graduate student in the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University. Working in the Writing Center brings her great joy as she assists students on writing assignments and composition. Even though she is a bulldog now, she has deeper roots in the high country of North Carolina on the campus of Appalachian State University, graduating from Appalachian with a degree in Elementary Education with an English concentration.  

 

 

 

Trista PruittTrista Pruitt, Consultant

Trista is a Junior double major in English and Spanish with two minors in History and Political Science. When she is not busy doing class work, she enjoys reading and writing and is an avid Tumblr user. Her hometown is the beautiful city of Asheville, NC where she enjoys hiking and experiencing the unique culture. She is a big fan of J.R.R Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Libba Bray, and Jon Foreman.

 

 

 

Caitlin RatzlaffCaitlin Ratzlaff, Consultant

Caitlin is a senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She is a true New Yorker with a passion for travel. Caitlin was new to the 2012-2013 Writing Center staff; her enthusiasm and compassion were a perfect fit for our team.

 

 

 

Courtney SpurlinCourtney Spurlin, Receptionist


Courtney is a sophomore English Education major with a minor in Professional Education. She wants to teach twelfth grade English. She is from Ennice, NC which is a small little town way up in the mountains. In her free time, she enjoys reading and writing.
