Wireless Networks Available
“gaming”: This network, as the name suggests, is to be utilized if you have a gaming console on the network (playstation, wii, xbox, etc).
“wirelessdawgsN”: This network is to be used if you have a laptop or mobile device with the 802.11a or 802.11an standards and your laptop can see/connect to it.
“wirelessdawgs”: If you cannot connect to wirelessdawgsN, this network should be used for laptops and mobile devices.
Wireless vs. Wired Access
If you are a resident student and you do NOT live in Apartments G, I or J, you have a 1Gbps wired internet connection in your bedroom. If you are having issues with the wireless network (slowness, lack of signal, disconnects, etc), one option is to utilize this wired port. Simply connect an Ethernet cable from the port (which is usually colored orange) to your laptop or gaming console. If you do a lot of streaming (Netflix, for instance), it is recommended that you use the wire as it is a faster connection than wireless.
Registering for a Gaming Console
If you have a gaming console, it will need to be registered in Bradford the first time you use it. To do this, from your laptop, browse to http://gwumanage.gardner-webb.edu/registration/ and click on the option for registering a gaming device. You will need the MAC/physical address of the gaming console, which can usually be found in the “Network Settings” on the console.
