Jimmy Delmar Whitlow joined the School of Divinity faculty in 2008. He teaches Pastoral Care through the Life Cycle; Religion, Spirituality, and Personality; Health and Spirituality; Introduction to Pastoral Care and Counseling; and Pastoral Care of Families. In addition to teaching, Dr. Whitlow assists with the coordination of the Master of Divinity/Master of Arts/Education Specialist in Mental Health Counseling degree.

Prior to joining the faculty of the School of Divinity, Dr. Whitlow was Assistant Dean of Student Development and Director of Counseling Services at Gardner-Webb University. He served for more than a decade at Anderson University, Anderson, South Carolina, in the areas of student development, counseling, and chaplaincy. Following the completion of his Doctor of Education, Dr. Whitlow was the Director of Development at Brewton-Parker College, Mt. Vernon, Georgia.

Dr. Whitlow is a licensed professional counselor in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina. He is a nationally certified counselor, and he is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He has served for the past eleven years as interim pastor for several churches in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Dr. Whitlow is originally from Georgia. He is married to Christine Whitlow.
